About Us
Good Eat’n is more than just a restaurant. It is a labor of love, a tribute to family, and a celebration of soulful Southern cooking rooted in tradition and togetherness. Founded by Chef Joe McDole and his daughter Mercedes, our story is one of heritage, passion, and the simple joy of sharing good food with good people.
Joe grew up immersed in the flavors and stories of Southern kitchens. Meals were made slowly and carefully, with deep respect for the ingredients and the people who would gather around the table. Mercedes grew up alongside him, learning not just recipes but the meaning behind them — how food can bring comfort, spark memories, and create connections that last a lifetime.
At Good Eat’n, every dish reflects that legacy. Whether it is the crispy fried chicken that tastes like Sunday dinners at Grandma’s house, the slow-cooked ribs that fall off the bone, or the creamy mac and cheese that feels like a warm hug, we aim to nourish both body and soul. Our fresh-baked cornbread, collard greens, and shrimp and grits carry the flavors of home, made from scratch every day with care and pride.
But Good Eat’n is about more than food. It is about community. It is about creating a place where neighbors become friends and strangers feel like family. When you walk through our doors, you are welcomed with open arms and a genuine smile because here, you are not just a customer — you are part of something special.
Weekends bring extra warmth as we serve soul food breakfasts like pancakes, omelets, and shrimp and grits to start your day with comfort and joy. It is the kind of place where stories are shared over coffee, laughter fills the air, and everyone leaves feeling a little more at home.
At the heart of Good Eat’n is the belief that food has the power to heal, to unite, and to celebrate life’s simplest pleasures. We invite you to pull up a chair, taste the tradition, and become part of our family. And as you leave, we hope you carry with you not just a full belly, but a warm heart and a smile. Have a blessed day.
